Steven Noble's acclaimed illustrations embody a large volume of work. As a result, this online portfolio was created to showcase his best work, as well as, to demonstrate his versitility in the scratchboard medium, from pen and ink precision detailed line art to intricately carved woodcut illustrations. Over 15 years in the making, his expertise in this medium is best demonstrated in this website.
Most of the illustrations seen in the website are traditionally hand-drawn and are scanned and converted into digital high resolution files. Each illustration project goes through a standard three step process: project discussion and overview with the art director, preliminary pencil sketches (i.e. 2-3 revisions), and final art. Any changes to the final completed art usually incurs an addional fee beyond the initially agreed budget. As for the 4/c illustrations, the color is applied in Adobe Photoshop in a separate layer which allows for easier adjustments and changes to the final atrwork. At the end of the process, the final artwork is usually e-mailed or burned on a CD and saved as a tiff file format.
In addition, Steven has had a reputation in the industry over the years for his reliability and his ability to quickly turn around and complete final art ahead of schedule especially when it comes to extreme tight deadlines while at the same time maintaining high quality work. If you need only preliminary sketches or tight comps for presentation use only, please call him for pricing and scheduling.
